ScholarSafari was conceived from the collective experiences of a team that has inhabited every role within a classroom. This understanding shapes our approach for every learner we engage.
Fourteen years ago, a few like-minded thinkers put their heads together with a mission: to make learning FUN! Among them were educators with decades of experience and avant-garde in using unconventional tools such as theatre, writing poetry, photography, storytelling, and social exploration as pedagogy. In the mix were those who came with the experiences and learnings of inclusive education. Having journeyed through various stages of learning, both as students and as educators, our team intimately understands the diverse realities of the learning process.
A deep love for Delhi, its history, culture, and natural heritage, gave birth to DelhiByFoot (DBF) educational tours. Believing in the core idea of ‘life is the best teacher’, our team recognized the need to jump into the real grounds and use it as the best learning resource! Soon, parts and pieces of multiple explorations of the city of Delhi, through ‘lived experiences’, became part of school curricula, be it CBSE or IB, ICSE or IGCSE, in Delhi NCR, as we served guided journeys through the storied streets of our city.
Soon we took our pedagogical approach to both iconic cities and off-beat experiences across India, and students learnt from the diversity of our nation’s people, and the collective banks of cultural, societal, scientific, and historical knowledge, built over millennia.
Led by experienced and trained teachers, naturalists, historians, art experts, theatre specialists, photo-journalists, and mental health wellness practitioners, our excursions in out-of-classroom settings help connect the learner with existing lectures they have been part of and to society at large. Thus, we steer our learners towards a balanced learning; revealing the history & science of architectural marvels, the nuances of cultural enclaves, the layered history of India, be it the artistic masterpieces that shape our modern life or the ecosphere of which we are a part and which is a part of us.
DBF ScholarSafari is a step towards truly holistic education.
The simple agenda is to make history, geography, environment, and social interconnections ‘fun to learn’ for students and young adults through out-of-classroom, exploratory, and experiential study and learning modules that blend and complement the school curriculum, enhancing in-class understanding. We help students connect the dots as they walk with our team, while encouraging them to express what they learnt and their understanding through various creative mediums, like art, poetry, theatre, etc.
