Society & Culture

Society as we know it today is a cumulative, yet ever-evolving way of life of a people, being shaped over thousands of years, since the first of Homo Sapiens made their own first rudimentary tribe, a set of people who stepped on the path of collective, civilizational aspiration and growth.

We aim to help develop a better understanding of Who We Are in Society, i.e. the space and time we are part of, we occupy, by anchoring the study of society through concepts of laws & governance, political ideologies, social struggles, and people-revolutions. We help learners gauge social values by using cultural frameworks of arts, music & cuisines; and guide them to examine and gain insights of economic systems.

Equally crucial is to connect and highlight the collective human efforts towards a just and equitable society. Thus, we explore how ideas of freedom, justice, power, and governance were negotatited & institutionalized over time, when exploring landmarks like our Parliament, President’s House or the Supreme Court. We critically examine when society encouraged authoritative monarchies; or dwell on building blocks of India’s democratic fabric by exploring Panchayats.

Learning how social practices connect to what we wear & eat, our literary or scientific pursuits, or what architecture we build or how we engage for entertainment, is part of an ever-evolving process influenced by genetics, migrations, geographies, intermingling of society and, what we hold dear as our Collective Culture!
